02 — Our Story

From a food trailer
to three restaurants.

The Kika's Kitchen team outside the Mission Bay restaurant

Kika’s started out as a food trailer back in 2020, and we made thirty-two dollars on the first day we opened. Five years later there are three restaurants and about thirty people on the team, but my wife and I are still the ones running all of it.

The food is what we grew up eating in Brazil, and we cook it the same way here. We haven’t toned anything down to suit anyone, and we’re not going to start now.

Common Questions

What is churrasco?

Churrasco is the Brazilian way of grilling meat over charcoal, and it’s how every cut on our menu is cooked, including the Wagyu picanha. We grill slowly over the coals rather than using gas, which is what gives the meat its flavour.

Can I book for a large group?

Absolutely. Our sharing plates (tábua de carne) are made for groups. For parties of 8 or more, contact us directly and we'll sort you out.

Do you cater events?

We do. Get in touch through the contact form below and let us know what you're planning.

Is there parking?

Mt Eden: street parking on Mary Street and surrounding streets. Rosedale: free parking in the complex. Mission Bay: street parking along Tamaki Drive.

Do you have vegetarian options?

Yes — grilled halloumi, polenta frita, mandioca frita, and a range of sides. Let your server know and we'll look after you.
